Pamphylia is the region between the ancient Lycian League and Cilicia, starting from the east of the Aksu Stream in the south of Anatolia and covering the east of Antalya province. Pamphylia largely corresponds to the region known as Tarhuntaşşa during the Hittites period. Pamphylia literally means "Land of Races". There are various opinions about where the name of the Pamphylia region came from. The Greeks think that the name Pamphylia was given to Mopsos' daughter Pamphilia or her half-sister Pamhyle. The Roman writer Gaius Plinius Secundus reports that the old name of Pamphylia was Mopsopia. Considering the artifacts belonging to Mopsos in the archaeological excavations, it confirms Plinius.
