Turkey is located in the Eastern Mediterranean and situated on two continents; Europe and Asia. The European Turkey is called Thrace and the Asian Turkey is called Anatolia. Four of Turkey's seven regions are named after the seas they border on, the Black Sea, the Marmara, the Aegean and the Mediterranean Regions. The other three regions were named in accordance with their location in the whole of Anatolia including Central, Eastern and South-eastern Anatolia Regions.
